This CD tells the story of Jake the Polar Bear who doesn’t want to go to bed at night because he is worried that he might be missing out on things that others are doing while he’s asleep, or something might happen to him. But during the story his mum reassures Jake that all his friends are asleep as well so he won’t be missing anything, and his Mum and Dad are there to look after him at all times, so he is always safe and secure.
The CD works by using hypnosis-type suggestions that are woven into the story, which will help a child relax and then fall asleep.
Children are fantastic at taking onboard hypnotic suggestions as the doorway between the conscious and the unconscious mind is the imagination. For children, it’s relatively easy to reach at the deepest levels, in a much quicker time than required by a good many adults. Stories, adventures, visualisation and imaginative games work most effectively with children as they can easily relate them to their own concerns and be comforted when the characters are relieved of their concerns.
This CD should be played at bedtime with the child in their own bed, although it is recommended that you stay with them at least the first few times they listen to the CD so that they are reassured by your presence.
The aim of the CD is that your child should fall asleep before the end of the story or very shortly afterwards. Your child will soon become used to the routine of playing the story at bedtime and the routine of drifting off into a peaceful, deep sleep for the night.
